Moonstone is Abbeyfield’s Nursery class.  We run flexible seesions where children attend either mornings or afternoons or stay all day.  Every children is entitled to 15 hours free Nursery education from the term after their third birthday and in some cases a child may be eligible for 30 hours free education.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and good practice guidance from the Birth to Five Matters document.  Our children enjoy broad, balanced, play-based learning with the support of our early years specialist practitioners.

We aim promote an early love of reading and books.  We share stories every day and all our children take advantage of our class library to choose books to share at home.

We teach early phonics skills through targetted listening activities which develop children’s listening skills.  Prompt your child to listen carefully to the sounds around them and listen out for specific sounds.

Regular counting and singing well-known number songs will help your child develop their number skills.

Every week parents are invited to join their children for one of our Rhyme Time sessions where we learn new songs linked to our topic, as well as singing some of other favourites.  Come along and join us!
