Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to tell you that the last week before half term (10th – 14th February) will be Arts Week at Abbeyfield Primary Academy.
Our Arts Week theme is A Painting and a Poem.
Each Year Group has been given a painting and a poem to inspire their Arts Week activities. All our children will be taking part in a range of Arts activities over the week, including Art, Drama, Creative Writing, Dance and Music. We will also be continuing with our Maths, Reading and Phonics learning.
On the afternoon of Friday 14th February, we would like to invite you to our Art Gallery, so that you can see some of the Art work your children have been doing.
You are invited to join us from 2:45pm on Friday 14th February to see the finished Art work.
FS, Year 1 and Year 2 will be displaying their Art work in the KS1 Hall.
Year 3 and 4 will be displaying their Art work in the Canteen
Year 5 and 6 will be displaying their Art work in the KS2 Hall
From 2:45pm, you will be able to collect your children and look round the Art work with them. You will be able to take your child/children to visit all three display areas.
Children will stay in their classrooms until they are collected by an adult. At 3:15pm all remaining children will be dismissed by their teacher as usual.
We have a few aprons in school, but not enough for every child, and we will be using paint and glue during the week.
If you would like your child to protect their clothes during Arts Week, then please send in an old shirt/long sleeved T-Shirt that your child can put on over their uniform while they are doing Art. This could be an old shirt from an adult/older sibling, with the sleeves cut down if necessary. Your child can keep the shirt in class for the whole week. If you don’t need the art shirt back, we would really appreciate you donating it to your child’s class to be used in the future.
We are really excited about Arts Week and we look forward to sharing our experiences with you.
Yours sincerely,
Helen Best
Principal
