Abbeyfield Poverty Promise
We know that lots of children don’t have much money and this often makes life very difficult for them. We promise that we will do whatever we can at Abbeyfield so we don’t add extra stress and worry about money to our families.
We promise that every time we plan something at Abbeyfield, we will think about how it will affect our most vulnerable children and families.
Free Celebrations for Special Days
We promise that we won’t have non-uniform days at our school or dressing up on special days, such as World Book Day.
Although they are fun for some children, they can be very stressful for others, including those who don’t have much money.
We celebrate special days in ways that don’t leave anyone out.
Accessible and Affordable school trips
We promise that we will be very careful when we book trips. During the year 2023-24, Five Rivers Multi Academy Trust paid for all trips and visitors in school and we continue to heavily subsidise visits to make them accessible and affordable for all. . This is to avoid any worry or stress for families and make sure we provide our children with a wide range of exciting and valuable learning experiences.
No child left out
We promise that when we have a School Fair, Healthy Tuckshop or Bake Sale, we will work really hard to allow everyone to participate.
We have a ticket system so that children without much money can take part.
Free Healthy Start to the School Day
We promise that we will provide a free healthy breakfast for every child in our school.
We promise we will provide a free Breakfast Club to support working parents and help give children a good start to the day.
Support for the basics in life
We promise that we will support our families. We already have a Food Bank and Uniform Bank.
We are working towards providing other support, including haircuts and eye tests.
