Happy New Year – A message from the Principal

Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year

Reflecting back, I remember many highlights for Abbeyfield during 2022

It’s been so great to be having parents on site again.  Lots of parents are coming every week for Friday’s ‘Reading for Pleasure’ sessions.  Family Workshops have been well attended and it’s been lovely to see so many families coming back to Breakfast Club.

The new way of running after school clubs have been incredibly popular and I really enjoy walking round the school and seeing so many children enjoying such a wide range of different activities.

It’s also been great to get the children out of school on educational visits.  They missed out on so much during the COVID years, we are very grateful to the Five Rivers Multi Academy Trust for funding the visits this year so that we’re able to take the children out regularly throughout the year without any cost to families.  We have some really amazing destinations and activities and we look forward to sharing the incredible learning experiences with the children.

I hope that 2023 will continue to bring good things for us all.

Helen Best

Boosters and Clubs

Boosters and Clubs start on Tuesday 10 January and Wednesday 11 January.

YOU SAID: Feedback from children last term was that they are enjoying the clubs and want them to continue.  We have organised clubs again looking at which clubs were particularly popular and taking out some clubs which were not popular.

YOU SAID: Feedback from families last term was that Tuesday boosters were more difficult to manage as there are no clubs available for siblings.  This term we have added clubs on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays so that children who are selected for an academic booster can still have an opportunity to join a club and families can organise to collect siblings at the same time.

Please sign the paper permission form if your child has been selected for an academic booster.

The following clubs are available.  Please fill out the form on ParentMail if you want your child to join a club.

Santa’s Grotto

We are delighted to announce that Santa’s Grotto events have raised £500 for the school fund.  Thank you to all families who attended and gave so generously and a big thanks to Santa and his elves for their time commitment.  This money will be used to improve after school clubs.
