DIAMOND – Year 5
In Diamond class we have Ms Young as the Class Teacher. Our Teaching Assistant, Ms Derbyshire, completes our team and we all share the same high expectations of both behaviour and achievement.
Our topic this half term is the “Life in the Freezer”. This is a Geography based topic in which children will explore the environment in the Arctic and the Antarctic.
In English the children will be looking at adventure stories and using an example of this to write their own story. Following this they will be looking at persuasive writing and linking this to our topic by looking at persuading people to go on a trip to Antarctica.
The topic in Science this half term will be “Space”. This will focus on planets and the solar system. They will be looking at the planets in our solar system and how they orbit the Sun.
In reciprocal reading the children in Diamond class will be reading “Thief!” by Malorie Blackman.
“Times Tables Rock Stars” is an online programme that the school has purchased to support children learn their multiplication tables.
