Dear Parent / Carer,
PCSO Sarah Needham will be visiting Year 6 on Friday morning (20th September) to give a presentation aimed at tackling knife crime.
Sarah has already visited other local primary schools to give this presentation, which only contains information which is age-appropriate for children of 10 and 11 years old. The presentation has been checked by Abbeyfield staff to make sure that it is suitable for our children.
Research has shown that if young people are given the skills to understand knife crime while they are still in primary school, they can think ahead in a safe, classroom environment about how they might act to avoid getting into dangerous situations. This will help them stay safe when they go on to secondary school next year.
Sarah will talk about the law around knives and young people, what the consequences would be of getting involved with anyone carrying a knife and how to get help if you are worried about anything connected with this topic. She will be giving a 20 minute presentation to each Year 6 class.
If you would like any more information or have any further questions, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your child’s teacher or Mrs Abell in the office.
